Job description

Managing a third party obsolescence supplier, track risk associated with obsolete components by Program, and provide long term solutions to the obsolete Components. This position will also manage Conflict Minerals Compliance per Safran standards for the Power Division and include identifying items impacted by REACh Regulations.


Manage and further develop Obsolescence Management, including cost prediction and cost avoidance for Power sites
Managing Obsolescence implementation with third party supplier for Power Sites.
Managing Conflict Minerals Compliance to Safran Standards for Power Sites.
No staff reporting, managing a third party supplier
Ensure mitigation plans, i.e. Life Time Buys, are at the best financial interest of the business
Monitor third party Obsolescence activity within Budget
Providing Obsolescence status reports Programme/ site Management

Additional description

Principal Accountabilities

Timely reporting of Obsolescence status and management of mitigation plans to ensure continuity of supply to Power sites without impacting the customer.
Management of third party obsolescence supplier.
When notified of obsolescence issues, pro-actively work with suppliers and engineering to identify solutions.
Pro-actively implement, Last Time Buy tasks, initiating Design Change requests, etc.
Coordinate last time buy and obsolescence solutions with commodity managers and procurement buyers
Reporting by Programmes monthly, monitoring all obsolescence issues
Prepare Upper Management reviews that include Program Risk to the overall business monthly•
Liaise with customers (internal and external) to ensure expectations are aligned
Develop and implement tool to support ‘Obsolescence cost prediction and cost avoidance analysis' and integrate into bid proposals, create planned design changes for new and existing Programme's


Reported Obsolete component issues, to proper mitigation deployed, with zero delays to the Program
Safran Approved Conflict Mineral Compliance and yearly updates to the compliance
Operating to budget
Timely delivery of Obsolescence reporting from third party contractor
Burn down rate of queries

Candidate skills & requirements

Must have a background in Electronic Components as an engineer, Sr. Buyer, Commodity Manager, Supplier Performance/Quality roles, knowledge of REACh Regulations and reporting, knowledge of Conflict Minerals regulations and reporting.
Experience of working in a matrix structure and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience of the following domains: Risk Management, Project Management, Supply Chain, Electronics & Mechanical Engineering
PC Literate: Windows, MS Excel and Word
