Job description

The role of the Procurement Buyer requires the management and coordination of all purchasing requirements for Safran Electrical & Power UK Ltd across a defined list of supplier's. This involves purchasing to Material Requirement Plan (MRP) with an expected level of spend in the region $9M per year. The Buyer will be part of the rotar/stator side of the business.

This person will have significant levels of interaction with both internal and external stakeholders as part of a cross functional team, therefore the ability to build effective relationships is a fundamental requirement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as the focal point for all day to day material requirements across an agreed range of suppliers;
Work with suppliers to ensure deliveries are on-time, in full and aligned with the needs of the business;
Drive improvement actions via KPI review and maintenance
Supplier Acknowledgements within the supplier portal
Requisitions to Purchase Order conversion
Purchase Orders late to requirements
Action Messages (reschedule in or push product out)
Perform Request for Quotations on stranger parts as required
Manage deliveries of Purchase orders to be just-in-time for inventory management
Escalate, where appropriate, any significant issues that require management intervention or awareness
Work with suppliers to resolve issues impacting performance, such as, Quality discrepancies, Book in queries
Adheres to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture;
Permits/Concessions or Invoice query resolution and corrective actions where needed
Work with Purchasing/SPM/SQA/Vendors to ensure/create robust and efficient Supply chains
Manage returns to vendors via the NCT process
Adheres to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture.
Other duties may be assigned.

Travel specifictity

Travel requirements: Occasional travel (general guideline: once per quarter) inside the U.S. and outside of the U.S.

Candidate skills & requirements

Knowledge/Skills:
Previous experience in Supply Chain Management;
Excellent negotiation and influencing skills;
Must have excellent analytical, numerical and planning skills;
Energetic, results oriented, driven individual and effective communicator at all levels

Preferred Skills :
Previous management of Supplier schedules and operational procurement desirable;
Experience within a production control system in either a lean manufacturing environment or Planning and Purchasing area
Previous knowledge of SAP would be advantageous.


Education and/or Experience
A Bachelor's degree in in Supply Chain, Business or related area of focus
A minimum of four (4) years' experience working in procurement, purchasing and/or supply chain.
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree a minimum of six (6) years' of experience working in procurement, purchasing and/or supply chain.
Bilingual in both English and Spanish
