Job description

Working within the stress team to perform stress analysis service at all stages of product design from identification of initial opportunity through to successful operation in service.

• Working under the direction of the Stress Team Leader
• Performing hand calculations and FE analysis of structural (linear / non-linear), dynamic, modal, vibration, thermal and analysis.
• Estimating task duration for single tasks or work packages.
• Coordination with Lead Engineers and Project / Programme Managers to stay abreast of customer needs and estimate forward demand.
• Driving improvements to processes and procedures
• Support the Stress Team with long-range planning for the team to ensure the development of team members and processes.
• Provide training and guidance on basic Stress principles in order to grow the skill throughout the Design community

Travel specifictity


Candidate skills & requirements

• Ideally Degree educated in a relevant engineering discipline
• Good knowledge of product, assembly and component analysis, preferably with experience of Ansys workbench
• Ability to do hand calculations, structural (linear / non-linear) analysis, dynamic, modal, vibration, thermal and stress analysis.
• Good knowledge of materials and their properties and their use in engineering design.
• An understanding of fluid dynamics and tribology would be beneficial.
• Awareness of CAD tools and their capabilities would be beneficial
• Experience in the aerospace industry would be beneficial.
• Awareness of CFD analysis would be beneficial.
• Awareness of manufacturing process would be beneficial.
• Competent in using Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project tools.

• Evidence of written English at interview stage. This will be through providing certification of a formal English or technical qualification studied in the UK or overseas in English. If this cannot be provided you will be required to complete and pass an online SHL English comprehension test as part of the interview process.
