Job description

The Director, Materials and Processes Center of Excellence (COE) is responsible for driving standardization in materials, processes, and finishes to simplify product portfolio and maximize reuse across Cabin in all new product development activity. This position will report to the Executive Vice President, Engineering for Cabin.

The Director, Materials and Processes Center of Excellence (COE) provides professional and technical guidance across Cabin to ensure that effective engineering standard practices, standard processes and standard procedures are developed, implemented and adhered to for all divisions. Ensures the most effective use of the tools and facilities is achieved. Provides direction to management regarding all activities and policies related to the product line's design, engineering and production efforts.

Summary of Duties:
• Develops and deploys centralized materials and processes center of
excellence (COE) across Cabin; drive standardization in materials, processes,
and finishes to simplify product portfolio and maximize reuse across Cabin in
all new product development activity.
• Prepares and controls Material Specification, Process Specification,
Materials and Process Summary, Fire Property Test Plan and Report,
Corrosion Control Prevention and other Engineering document relevant to
materials and process activity for all divisions across Cabin.
• Responsible for and conducts verification and validation testing, as required,
of new or modified material and process prior to design approval and
qualification testing.
• Specifies, reviews and approves material description, process call-out and
specification on engineering drawings.
• Recommends testing methodologies to the development engineering team
and supports project engineers, system engineer and certification manager
in test procedure and report generation and update.
• Supports engineering and certification team in resolving material and
process quality problems, purchasing issues, customer requests, customer
contract requirements, technical support, sales requests, safety and
environmental compliance.
• Identify design deficiencies and opportunities for improvement based on
analysis, test observation and test results.
• Ad hoc reports on design risks depending on the criticality of issues, and
support to mitigation action plan development (general orientations or
detailed planning depending on the situation).

Candidate skills & requirements

Experience: 10 years of experience developing Cabin products and systems; 5 years formal leadership experience with proven track record of effective team-building and talent development within a design and build organization
